Dynamic- The Essence of Martial Arts

In mixed martial arts, being well rounded is so key and important to a fighter’s success. We see boxers like James “Lights Out” Toney, transitioning into MMA by signing with the UFC this year. And we get to see MMA fighters that have strong backgrounds in professional boxing, transition into muay Thai.

Being well rounded in martial arts is the essence of this great sport that has become the number one sport to watch in the nation’s young demographic (between ages 18-35).

Back in 2001, Kevin Brooks came on the MMA scene when he fought UFC light heavyweight Forrest Griffin in an amateur MMA fight that took place in Dublin, Georgia. Griffin defeated Brooks via injury default. His MMA career did not stop there. Since his fight with Griffin, Brooks has gone on to earn a professional MMA record of 12-9. Perhaps his professional boxing record of 17-0 will help to describe Brooks background as a fighter a little better.

Brooks as a boxer has more than exceeded excellence, and his MMA record proves that he does not back down from a fight. Brooks has found a new martial art to preoccupy himself with … muay Thai. With the his amateur record of 17-1 and his pro record of 7-3, his strong background in martial arts will be put to the test on April 17, as he squares off with Ismael Londt of Holland (22-1) for the IKKC Muay Thai Heavyweight Pro Superfight at the World Championship Muay Thai event at The Star of the Desert Arena inside Buffalo Bill’s Resort & Casino.

Brooks is a dynamic fighter who has what it takes to overcome the Dutch’s unique muay Thai style and become the titleholder.

As a boxer, he is flawless. As a mixed martial artist, he is fearless. As a muay Thai fighter, he is fierce.
