To give you a different perspective of Ultimate Fight Night, we opted to give you our uncut reporting. It's even written in the present tense, so you get a feel of what it was like as it was happening. So, here ya go.

Clay Guida vs. Samy Schiavo
Lightweight Bout

Chants of Guida echo through the arena two minutes into the fight. Guida scores a double-leg takedown, and the crowd goes crazy. The fighters are against the cage, and the ref says, "Keep working, boys. Keep working."

Clay, who is on top, grounds and pounds Schiavo into a ref stoppage. Guida flies to his feet and dances around the cage screaming, "We got him. We got him."

WINNER: Guida at 4:15 of Round 1. TKO.

Jeff Cox vs. Manvel Gamburyan
Lightweight Bout

Manny throws a right round kick almost simultaneously with the handshake. They tie up against the fence. The ref says, "Make it work, guys. Make it work."

After winning by choke, MG, in celebration, jumps on one of his cornermen and knocks him down. Manny then pretends like he is going to ground and pound him.

WINNER: Gamburyan at 1:41 of Round 1. Guillotine choke.

Ryan Roberts vs. Marcus Aurelio
Lightweight Bout

Marcus knocks him down with a punch, the fight goes to the ground, Aurelio secures the arm and Roberts taps.  As Aurelio jumps up on the cage, Ryan walks back to his corner with his hands on top of his head. He drops his hands and shakes his head. His corner comes over and hugs him. He buries his head in his corner's chest.

WINNER Aurelio. 0:16 of Round 1. Armbar.

Josh Neer vs. Din Thomas
Lightweight Bout

Before the fight starts, Din looked across the cage and points at Neer, who nods his head in return.

Good exchange of blows. Neer takes him down and throws some big blows. Thomas tries for a sub. Neer is in Thomas's guard. Neer mounts him briefly. Thomas takes him down and ends up in Neer's guard.

Round 2. Neer keeps scoring with low round kicks to the inside of Thomas' legs. Nice single-leg takedown by Neer.

Thomas jumps on Neer's back, drops to the canvas but can't get the rear naked choke. Matt Hughes yells, "Get out of there, Josh."

Neer drops some elbows into Thomas as the round winds down. "One more round, come on!" Hughes to Neer, just before the break ends.

Round 3. Another low round kick jolts Thomas' legs. Neer follows him to the ground and ends up in his guard. From the corner, Matt Hughes yells something to Neer, but the crowd drowns out his message.

Neer is punishing Thomas with the low round kicks. 1:37 to go. Josh calls him to his feet, and they throw heavy leather as the fight ends. Neer throws his mouthpiece into the crowd. Hughes comes in, yells for Neer and then gives him a drink of water.

WINNER: Neer. By decision. Unanimous.

Main Card

James Irvin (14-4) vs. Houston Alexander (8-3)
Light-Heavyweight Division

Irvin blasts him and HA goes down. The fight is over. James walks around the cage and says, "What? What?"

Houston continues to walk around the cage, shaking his head and throwing his arms down in disgust. A lot of boos reign down.

WINNER: Irvin. 0:08 Round 1. KO for Irvin.

Kurt Pellegrino (17-4) vs. Nate Diaz (9-2)
Lightweight Bout

Kurt scores an early takedown, and the action stays on the ground. The crowd briefly chants Diaz. Kurt mounts him and drills his face with punch after punch. Diaz shifts out of it. There is a cut above Diaz' left eye. Pellegrino is in total control and blasting away at Diaz. Diaz tries to stand, and Pellegrino goes to his back. Diaz works his way to his feet. "Let's work," says ref Herb Dean.

Round 2. Nate Diaz is jumping up and down prior to the start of Round 2. Diaz is the aggressor, but Pellegrino takes him down and ends up in his guard. Diaz goes for a shoulder lock, but Pellegrino looks up and waves it off, as if to say he's OK. Pellegrino works another good takedown. Pellegrino slams him, but Diaz hangs in there and scores a sub victory with a triangle. While he was cranking on the triangle, he raises his arms in triumph, as if he knew the victory was imminent.

WINNER: Diaz. 3:06. Round 1. Triangle.

Tim Boetsch (7-1) vs. Matt Hamill (5-1)
Light-Heavyweight Bout

Hamill scores a double leg. Ref stands them up at 2:36. The whole fight had been on the ground. Boetsch throws some big upper cuts. Boetsch throws a big knee. Now it's a stand-up war. Round 1 ends, and Marcus Davis is in Boetsch's corner, and he's wearing a kilt.

Round 2. Matt throws a big right round kick and slips. He jumps back up right away. Hamill works Boetsch down and pounds him. Finally, the ref steps in and stops the fight.

While Hamill celebrates, the physicians run in and check on Boetsch. After 30 seconds, Boetsch sits on a stool. His corner and the physicians surround him.

On the way out, Boetsch stops to sign an autograph for some fans.

WINNER: Hamill at 1:25 of Round 2.

Thiago Alves (20-4) vs. Karo Parisyan (26-5)
Welterweight Division

Both fighters come out swinging. Karo scores a takedown at 4:39 and establishes side control. Alves tries to slip away, but Parisyan does not let him. The action slows a little, but Parisyan works him up against the fence. Alves throws a huge, huge round kick that misses. Had it connected, Parisyan could have ended up back in Hollywood, California.

Round 2. Parisyan opens with a left round kick to the head. Alves drops him with a solid knee to the chin, and the ref calls it. Parisyan storms around the cage in anger. He spits and circles the cage. Randy Couture, who is in his corner and has come into the cage, says, "It's all right. It's all right."

Finally, after several minutes, Parisyan acknowledges Alves' congratulations.

When Parisyan walks past the media table and heads to the locker room, his head is down and he still appears to be upset.

WINNER: Alves. 0:34 Round 2. TKO.

Gray Maynard (5-0) vs. Frankie Edgar (8-0)
Lightweight

Frankie ducks under a big right and tries to take him down. He's unsuccessful, so they stay on their feet. We're almost three minutes in, and both are being careful. An exchange leads to a Maynard takedown. Maynard drops a big right onto Edgar, who is on the bottom. Round 1 ends. Forrest Griffin is in Maynard's corner, and he walks over between rounds.

Round 2. Maynard fakes a shoot and then unleashes an uppercut that misses. Edgar throws a combo and shoots, but Maynard sprawls. Edgar executes a nice throw and almost gets Maynard's back, but Maynard escapes. It looks like Maynard has a cut above his right eye. Ever so slight. Maynard scores a takedown, amazingly fast, and they tie up on the ground.

Between rounds. Couture is in Maynard's corner, and he does all of the talking. The crowd noise, however, prevents his voice from carrying.

Round 3. Maynard comes out with some aggressiveness and drives Edgar up against the fence. Maynard picks Edgar up for a second time and slams him to the canvas. Maynard shoots, picks Edgar up and slams him for the third time. Maynard controls the last portion of this fight. Edgar could not escape on the ground.

WINNER: Maynard. Unanimous decision.

Joe Lauzon (15-3) vs. Kenny Florian (10-3)
Lightweight Bout

Lauzon enters the arena to a good reception. They charge out and do not touch gloves. Very intense. Lauzon attacks with some punches, but they do not connect. Lauzon scores a takedown, but Florian drills him with elbows.

Florian throws a massive left roundkick to the mid-section that crushes Lauzon. An intense fight. A nice reversal by Lauzon, and they are back on their feet. Lauzon works him down, though Florian fought it. Lauzon ends up in Florian's guard. Lauzon works for an ankle lock, but Florian slips out of it. Non-stop action.

Lauzon ends up in Florian's guard. Lauzon works for another ankle lock, but he loses that too. Kenny comes back with some punches from the side.

Round 2. Huge roar from the crowd as the fight starts. The fight goes to the ground, and Florian mounts Lauzon and pounds him. Lauzon is covering up and protecting himself. Florian drops elbows. Florian throws more bombs from the side. Florian stays mounted and throws more punches. Florian is in control. He can't escape, though he tries to slide out.

Florian stays tough and works his arm behind his neck. Florian gets a high mount. Throws punches. Lauzon covers up. Herb is right on top of the action as he gets ready to pull the trigger on the TKO. Florian pounds away. Lauzon tries to escape by sliding out. He's unsuccessful, but he's still protecting himself. Florian still has a high mount. Finally, Herb calls it.

Florian gets up and holds his arms to the sky. His corner rushes in and congratulates him. Florian and Lauzon hug as they walk around the perimeter of the cage.

WINNER: Florian. 3:28 of Round 2. TKO.
