LOS ANGELES - Could Chuck Liddell become the Los Angeles Dodger's fifth starter? He is, after all, taking the mound later this month, and the first-place Dodgers-after Derek Lowe, Brad Penny, Chad Billingsley and Greg Maddux-have had trouble getting any consistency out of that fifth spot.
But it won't happen. Liddell, the UFC's light-heavy weight champion, does not intend to give up his belt for "The Grand Old Game" just yet. He will, however, be taking the mound on Sept. 24 on Ultimate Fighting Championship Day at Dodger Stadium. Liddell will throw out the first pitch.
The Dodgers play the Arizona Diamondbacks that day. The game begins at 1:10 p.m.
