HOLLYWOOD, Florida - It worked for GSP, so it may just work for Hermes Franca. After Georges St. Pierre defeated an opponent, he dropped to his knees in the Octagon and pleaded with UFC prez Dana White for an opportunity to fight for the welterweight title. And wishes, obviously, do come true. In Sacramento, at UFC 65, St. Pierre defeated Matt Hughes and became the UFC's welterweight champion. Now, several months later, at Ultimate Fight Night Live, Franca, having defeated Spencer Fisher, dropped to his knees and pleaded with the UFC for a shot at the lightweight title. Sitting Octagon-side, White flashed a huge smile. Time will tell. Sean Sherk, of course, is the man currently wearing that lightweight belt. In other action, Rashad Evans delivered the roundkick heard around the world with his KO over Sean Salmon.
