| LONDON, England - And the winner is ... Quinton "Rampage" Jackson. At UFC 75: Champion vs. Champion, the judges cast their ballots, and it was unanimous ... Quinton "Rampage" Jackson is the world's best light-heavyweight. Jackson and Dan Henderson, the PRIDE light-heavyweight champion, went the distance here at the 02 Arena, and it was Jackson whose arm was raised at the end. Jackson, who previously knocked out former UFC light-heavyweight champ Chuck Liddell to become the UFC champ, improved his record to 28-6 with the victory. While Jackson was obviously happy after the fight, he was anything but happy prior to the fight. During the ref's instructions, Jackson scowled intensely at Henderson, who flashed the champ a quick smile. During the fight, both fighters had their moments, but Jackson was the only one who scored a knockdown. A blow sent Henderson, who dropped to 22-6, to the canvas in the middle rounds, but it may have been caused more by awkward footing than a powerful strike. After the fight, Jackson gave Henderson credit for being a tough opponent. In other action ... • Michael Bisping (15-0) scored a split decision over Matt Hamill, who dropped to 5-1. NOTES: Hamill entered to Bruce Springsteen's "Born in the USA." An argument could have been made that Hamill won the fight, but the wrestler took the loss with complete professionalism. • Cheick Kongo (21-3) defeated Mirko "Cro Cop" Filopovic (22-6) by unanimous decision. NOTE: Cro Cop came out fairly aggressive, but he seemed a bit tentative throughout the rest of the fight. • Marcus Davis (18-4) defeated Paul Taylor (8-2) with an armbar at 4:14 of Round 1. NOTES: Taylor looked like he was going to run away with this fight. He came out blasting away, and Davis deserves a ton of credit for weathering the incredible storm. • Houston Alexander (8-1) knocked out Alessio Sakara (15-6) in the first round. NOTES: If you had any doubts about Alexander's victory over Keith Jardine, throw them right out the window. Alexander scored an impressive victory, and it appears he'll be a force in the light-heavyweight division. Other Winners ... • Gleison Tibau • Thiago Silva • Dennis Siver • Jess Liaudin | HOWL OF A GOOD FIGHT: Quinton Jackson celebrates with a howl following his victory over Dan Henderson. Dan Henderson (right) delivers an uppercut while Jackson covers up. ALMOST SUB WAY: Dan Henderson could not quite pull off this sub, as Rampage eventually slipped out. |
