CHARLOTTE, North Carolina - Global Fighting LLC, the organization bringing MMA to the Queen City for the first time, signed former UFC heavyweight champion Kevin "The Monster" Randleman and Jeff "The Snowman" Monson in the evening's main fight, scheduled here in June. "We are extremely excited to bring the highest level of mixed martial arts to a world-class city like Charlotte," said Albert Moore, chief operating officer, Global Fighting. "From the arena to the fighters, everything about the event on June 21 will exude first class, especially the main showdown between Randleman and Monson. This much anticipated fight should have happened long ago, and we're glad we can bring it to the great MMA fans in the southeast." In addition to Randleman and Monson, the night will feature Murilo Bustamante, Josh Haynes, Sergio Moraes, Chris Clodfelter, Milton Vieira, Lynn Alvarez and Phil Cardella. Additional fighters will be added and announced in the coming weeks. MAIN EVENT Kevin "The Monster" Randleman started his fighting career back in high school where he won a state wrestling championship. He attended Ohio State University where he was a three-time All American, three-time Big Ten Champion and two-time NCAA National champion. Professionally, Randleman captured the UFC Heavyweight championship at UFC 23. His MMA record is 16-11. Jeff "The Snowman" Monson is one of the most recognized MMA athletes in the United States. Monson is a brown belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu and a powerhouse in submission grappling. In both 1999 and 2005 he won the prestigious Abu Dhabi Submission Grappling World Tournament in the heavyweight division. He is a multiple event winner at NAGA, Grappler's Quest and the Budweiser Invitational, where he continues to compete. Monson is ready to issue a challenge to or accept a challenge from any fighter in the world.
