"I don't know [the details why], but he was despondent," said Amormino. "It's tragic."
Williams, a 27-year-old middleweight, had parked his car on Pacific Isle Drive in Laguna Niguel. Using a handgun, Williams shot himself, said Amormino. Sheriff's deputies pulled up shortly after and found Williams, who was still alive at the time, he said.
"I am not sure if they got a call, but they had some information to look out for his vehicle," said Amormino, who didn't have the specifics on when this occurred.
The fighter was transported to Mission Hospital in Mission Viejo, where he died. Williams, who did not leave a suicide note, is survived by a wife and daughter, said Amormino.
An autopsy is scheduled to be performed today.
"Nothing startling will come out of this," he said. "This was self-inflicted."
Officials will perform a toxicology test to determine if Williams had alcohol or drugs in his system, but that will take four to six weeks to get the results, he added.
