0809_grp_RANDY_thumbRandy Couture is pleased with his leading role in the SCORPION KING and content if he doesn't fight again.

On June 22, Randy Couture turned 45. Granted, he’s an amazing athlete and could step into the cage within the next year or two and still defend his UFC heavyweight title, but the clock is methodically ticking on his fantastic MMA career.
While the MMA world sits and waits for that contractual resolution with the UFC, Couture is doing anything but sitting around and waiting. He stars in Universal’s The Scorpion King: Rise of a Warrior, which is set for DVD release on August 19, he runs a successful gym franchise and he has a slew of fighters under his wing, including his wife, Kim.
In the following interview, Couture talks about it all and comes to terms with the possibility that he may not fight again.

0809_grp_randy_sUG: In the movie, your character is Sargon. Describe his character.

RC: He’s a megalomaniac. He’s not a very nice guy, and he never has enough. He works his way up to general, and he is not satisfied with that because he wants to be king. And when he becomes king, he is not satisfied and then wants to be a god.

UG: How does it feel to portray a ruthless killer?

RC: It makes it a challenge, and that’s what makes it fun. That is the interesting thing about acting — you get to play characters and do things you normally would not get to say or do … all the way from swinging a double-headed axe to casting spells to killing somebody.

Check out the rest of Randy Couture's interview in the September issue of Ultimate Grappling Magazine. In stands now.
