After a 3-Year Absence From the UFC, Elvis Sinosic Is Ready To Roll (And Yes, He’s Feeling a Little Pressure)

Sinosic1You could say it’s a lifetime. In the world of fighting, anyway.

Two long years. That’s how long it’s been since Elvis Sinosic last fought.

And he hasn’t fought inside the Octagon for nearly three years ago. You know he’ll have a little ring rust to shake.

But, make no mistake. Elvis Sinosic is back, and he’s ready to rock.

When the world's largest MMA organization heads to his backyard way down under for UFC 110 in Australia, Sinosic will be there.

In this exclusive story, Sinosic, whom we last saw in the Octagon against Michael Bisping at UFC 70, brings us up to speed in his world.

LAST FIGHT: TWO YEARS AGO
I wasn’t intentionally taking a [two-year] break but things have worked out that way.

I was in contact with a few of the promotions about fighting, and as you know, quite a few went out of business (Bodog, Elite XC, Cage Rage, Affliction) so that kind of helped me get some time off. At least I got over a few nagging injuries.

It also allowed me to spend some more time with my students/fighters.

BOUND FOR SYDNEY
What are my thoughts on fighting in my hometown of Sydney, Australia? Fighting on UFC 110 in Sydney my hometown is just amazing. It is the biggest show, it is in my hometown and it’s in front of my friends and family.

For years, I've always fought the hometown favorite. For once, I'll get the opportunity to have the local fans on my side. For once, I can turn to the crowd and there will be people there I know. I can't emphasize just how lucky I feel to be able to step into the Octagon in Sydney.

FACING CHRIS HASEMAN
Chris [Haseman] is just another opponent … another obstacle in my way. He's an experienced veteran who is also looking for a win in his home country. He will be a tough fight, and I have no doubt he will come to fight. I can tell you that I am coming to fight. I am also coming to win. I will give the fans a show, and I will take a victory home with me that night.

YES, IT’S THERE
Do I feel pressure? I guess I do. I feel the pressure of not letting down my gym, my students, my fans, my friends and family. This is something fighters have to deal with all the time and learn to accept it.

In the end, you have to realize that you are getting in there for yourself and nobody else. Your focus has to be on you and doing the best you can. Pressure is just part of the package that you have to deal with.

Paranormal Elvis

Was asked Elvis Sinosic if he believes in Yowie? (the Yowie is Australia's equivalent to Bigfoot)

Sadly, I don’t know. I’ve never had the opportunity to go outback and check it out. If I ever get the chance I will let you know.
